Free Small Business Week events at SPC

WorkforceLog Yellow SPC

In alignment with both national and local small business weeks, The Workforce Institute at St. Petersburg College is celebrating the growth of small businesses in the Tampa Bay area. The Workforce Institute will host a series of FREE events throughout Small Business Week, May 2-5, that strive to further educate and enrich the small business community as well as SPC students.

“Employing millions of Americans and creating nearly two out of three new jobs, America’s small businesses are the backbone of our economy. More than that, our small businesses represent what is best about America- that with hard work and ingenuity, anyone-no matter their background- can build a better future for themselves and their families.”

 –President Barack Obama

The Workforce Institute works to provide a wide variety of non-credit classes to help organizations and individuals learn new skills for today’s workplace and prepare to pass licensure exams with classes such as “Ordinary to Extraordinary Customer Service” to training on small-business friendly software such as QuickBooks.

Online program for entrepreneurs

Small Business Month will also mark the launch of SPC’s online, non-credit program “How to Start a Small Business,” which lends itself to entrepreneurs.

It covers topics such as building a business plan, creating a marketing and advertising strategy, tracking return on investment and planning an exit strategy. You can find out more information on this program by visiting our website.
