The first cohort of students completed the Bridges to Careers/LINCS Customer Service Operations training on Aug. 20, 2015. Twelve students took part in the initial training held at the Keene Midtown Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 14 to Aug. 20. Nine students obtained their national industry certification from the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) in Customer Service Operations.

The program represents a collaborative effort between SPC’s LINCS Supply Chain Management program and CareerEdge Funders Collaborative’s Bridges to Careers program. During the 6-week program, students learned interview skills, resume building, financial literacy, computer and workplace success skills in addition to taking part in the LINCS Customer Service Operations training.

The program cost is funded entirely by CareerEdge Funders Collaborative. The program staff will continue working with students to secure interviews and job placements in the transportation, distribution and logistics sector. Some students are also planning to continue their education at SPC.

The demand for supply chain talent is on the rise

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in logistics are estimated to grow by 26 percent from 2010-2020!

Supply chain management involves all activities that bring products and services to market, including planning, procurement, manufacturing and logistics and include job roles as logistics assistants, warehouse and production associates, supply chain specialists and analysts, fulfillment supervisors, purchasing, fleet and transportation managers.
