Games That Teach

Rubik’s cubes, Sudoku, and bingo were the “textbooks” for SPC Downtown’s STEM Bowl, offering students the opportunity to learn more about science, technology, engineering and math career opportunities and college programs all while having fun.

Inaugural STEM by the Bay Conference Highlights

The college’s new Bay Pines STEM Center was home to Dr. Erin Goergen’s inaugural STEM by the Bay Conference, held in January. Organizers designed the conference to allow students to meet with STEM professionals and learn how they entered their chosen fields and to get  hands-on experience while exploring what areas were a best fit for them.

In collaboration with SPC’s Tampa Bay SEEDs Scholarship Program, the Bay Pines STEM Center is hosting the STEM by the Bay Conference, Workshops, and Service events this January 12, 13, and 15. This free event is open to all SPC students. Registration for this event can be for a single day, or for all three days.

SPC’s Women2STEM Symposium gave attendees a chance to find inspiration and see their heroes up close: artist and former astronaut Nicole Stott, television meteorologist Lindsay Milbourne and Pinellas County Schools K-12 STEM Specialist Laura Spence.

Astronaut Alumna to Land at Women2STEM Symposium

Astronaut and SPC alumna Nicole Stott will speak at the Oct. 16 Women2STEM Symposium on SPC’s Clearwater Campus to help celebrate women’s roles in science, technology, engineering and math fields. Joining Stott on the panel will be FOX 13 Meteorologist Lindsay Milbourne, and Pinellas County Schools K-12 STEM Specialist Laura Spence. The event is free and open to the public.
