Study Abroad with SPC in Italy!  Students will learn about the influence of Rome on the development of Western art, architecture, and ideas. We will encounter Rome’s heroic past, the growth of the empire, the pervasive influence of the Roman Catholic Church during the Middle Ages, and the blending of Christian themes and Classical forms in the period of the Renaissance.

In Rome, students will be able to experience great works of art and architecture first-hand by visiting the Vatican Museum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum. In addition to visiting Rome, we will also tour Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, Venice, and Assisi.

The experience will give students a better understanding of Italy’s central place in the development of Western civilization.

Enjoying Amazing Food On My SPC Italy Study Abroad Program

Food

Food. We need it to survive, and it usually helps when it tastes good. I don’t think that you understand how good the food here is. I don’t think I’ve had a bad meal at all on this trip. Some of my favorites have been the sweet stuff. So many different pastas have been consumed, … Continue reading Enjoying Amazing Food On My SPC Italy Study Abroad Program

Exploring Rome and Florence

The best cappuccino I’ve ever had in my entire life was in a small cafe across from our hotel. It was time for lunch on the third day of our trip to Rome, and the classes we had in the morning ended. My roommate, Max, and I had a lot to eat for breakfast that … Continue reading Exploring Rome and Florence on SPC’s Study Abroad Program for High School Students

Steps, Fountains, and Rome! Oh my! Day Three in Rome on my Italy High School Study Abroad Program

Day Three in Rome

Day three in Rome has produced both fatigue, awe, and a sense of beauty in the city. When I woke up this morning I just knew that today was going to be a rough day. I was a new form of tired and I kept hearing the rather large and high pitched horn of the … Continue reading Steps, Fountains, and Rome! Oh my! Savoring Exquisite Italian Cuisine on my Italy High School Study Abroad Program

Cuisine

Italy is famous for its fantastic cuisine and wide selection of dishes. Of all the things I’ve tried so far, my first pick would be the Gnocchi. Unlike the United States, most of the pasta here is made from scratch. Gnocchi is basically little hand-rolled potato balls with either a red or cream sauce on … Continue reading Savoring Exquisite Italian Cuisine on my Italy High School Study Abroad Program

Food-of-Italy-Web

Italy has a way with food. They include simple, straight to the point ingredients. Unlike the food in the United States, Italy’s food contains no preservatives and few ingredients. For example, the bagged chips in the grocery store called Le Contadine has 3 ingredients: potatoes, extra virgin olive oil, and salt. The chips were delicious, … Continue reading Enjoying the fresh and tasty food of Italy

Exploring the Roman Architecture: Colosseum on My SPC Study Abroad Program

Roman Architecture

As the capital of Catholicism, Rome contains many monuments, building, statues, etc. of different important aspects to the religion. Aside from these religious sights, there are some more secular sights. One of the most brutish structures out of all the secular sights is the Colosseum. While touring the Colosseum I became aware that the Colosseum … Continue reading Exploring the Roman Architecture: Colosseum on My SPC Study Abroad Program

Exploring the Colosseum and Saint Peter’s Square on my Italy High School Study Abroad Program

Italy High School Study Abroad Program

Today was the first full day of our Italy High School Study Abroad Program. Just because it is the first, that doesn’t mean it started all too well. Jet lag hit me really hard, and I ended up sleeping two hours late, and almost missed class if it weren’t for Mr. Hesting waking us up. … Continue reading Exploring the Colosseum and Saint Peter’s Square on my Italy High School Study Abroad Program
