A new partnership that was developed by SPC College of Education, SPC Foundation and the City of St. Petersburg kicked off April 21. The purpose of this initiative is to bolster training for early childcare professionals within designated areas of the city. The city will be contributing $49,200 that will work toward funding tuition scholarships for SPC’s Early Childhood Education program.
The ultimate goal of the program is to improve school readiness rates and prepare local childcare workers to provide students with high quality early childhood education.
Scholarships will be awarded to 30 individuals who are currently working 20 hours or more per week in licensed early childhood care centers in the St. Petersburg area. Although scholarships will only be available to 30 participants, there will be hundreds of individuals who will learn, benefit and improve their teaching skills.
