Education career exploration workshop for SPC students, public

Education Career Exploration Workshop

Attend St. Petersburg College’s education career exploration workshop for those looking to major in the field:

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts there will more than 200,000 job openings for kindergarten through elementary school teachers through 2026, a seven percent increase. So this begs the question: have you considered going into the education field? Have you considered becoming a teacher or administrator?

The Career Services Department at the St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus is hosting an Education Career Exploration Workshop for education majors or for those considering the education field. This will be a two-part workshop with an industry expert who will answer questions during the first half and Career Services talking about preparation for the education field during the second half. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6,  from 12:30 – 2 p.m. at the campus in SA-135.

During the first part of our workshop, we will be joined by Pam Wilkins, SPC Senior Academic Coordinator and ELITE Educator Advisor, who will share her insights about the education field. She will also discuss bachelor’s degrees in education offered at SPC.

During the second part of the workshop, Career Services staff will provide tips to help you prepare for your career. We will discuss the best ways to craft a professional resume geared toward the education field. We’ll also share job hunting tips such as how much will I get paid and what are hot job markets?

Do you know someone who’s not enrolled in SPC but thinking about applying? Feel free to invite them out! The Career Exploration Workshop is open to not only SPC students but to the community as well.
