There is power in teamwork and whoever said that 3 is a lucky number was right!
Three Student Services departments joined forces to promote student success by holding a Fall 2015 Success Event at the St. Petersburg / Gibbs Campus.
Career Services, Registration Center and the Financial Aid department are no strangers to collaborating to serve students. At the Fall 2015 Success Event, Career and Academic Advisors, Nikki Hall and Melinda Daun helped students complete their MY Learning Plan while Assistant Financial Aid Director, Gwen Reed was available to answer student questions regarding their financial aid status. In addition, SPC Career Specialist, Rose Miglino guided students through completing their career assessments in Focus 2 and also met with students who had questions about their career path and college major.
While discovering a career path and college major along with completing a Learning Plan help students become more successful, students also appreciated that they could get all of their questions answered at one event while also enjoying a pizza or ice cream.
The event turnout and positive feedback from students left no doubt that this successful event will be repeated in the spring semester reuniting the dynamic trio of the advising, career services and financial aid departments.
Students that did not have an opportunity to attend this year’s event can start or complete a MY Learning Plan by visiting the Registration Center on any campus. To complete the Focus 2 career assessments, students can log-in to MYSPC and select the MY Career Tab and then select Focus 2. All students are encouraged to meet with the Career Specialist to discuss their Focus 2 results and to learn more about SPC career resources.
