A hospitality and tourism management career may be a great path for you if you are looking for an exciting job that can take you anywhere. Learn more about the industry at our upcoming St. Petersburg College Hospitality & Tourism Career Expo on February 20.

Flier for hospitality and tourism management career expoDoes the thought of sitting behind a desk make you uncomfortable? Are you the one who always makes sure your guests have the best time ever?

The hospitality and tourism industry focuses on a guest’s experience and includes a wide range of careers associated with lodging, event planning, travel, restaurants, sports, conventions, festivals, recreation, healthcare, and much more.

Tourism has a $10.3 billion dollar impact annually in Pinellas County. In 2017, even with Hurricane Irma, the county brought in a record $54.7 million in tourist development tax revenue.

Things can only get better for career prospects in the industry as the area continues to grow with new hotels, museums, and restaurants being developed. And both Tampa International Airport and the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport have expanded their flights to new locations.

With all this growth, the industry needs workers who are skilled in providing the best experience possible. SPC’s Associate in Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, along with the college’s certificate programs, can help boost your strengths and career options as a manager in the hospitality industry. Courses cover supervision, cost control, sanitation, laws governing the food and beverage and hospitality industries, customer service, front office procedures, and food service operations.

Come to the Hospitality & Tourism Career Expo on February 20 at the SPC Seminole Campus from 4 – 6 p.m. to network with professionals working in tourism, hospitality, travel, healthcare, cruise, lodging, and more. They will be happy to talk with you about a hospitality and tourism management career and current and future position openings .

Jim Burns, Vice President and Managing Director of Grande Lakes Orlando, will be at the expo to discuss what lies ahead for the industry. Representatives from SPC, USF, and UCF will be available to discuss various education paths.

Bring your resume and dress for success! This event is open to SPC students and the community. RSVP at
