Recruits from St. Petersburg College’s Fire Academy Class #49 participated in the American Lung Association’s stair climb, held March 11 at the Bank of America Plaza in Tampa.
The Fight for Air Climb is a way for firefighters and the community to raise funds to support the American Lung Association, which has positively impacted those affected by lung disease.
The stair climb is one of the signature fundraising events of the American Lung Association. Climbs are held in prominent skyscrapers and other buildings across the country, giving participants the opportunity to join together with friends, family and co-workers as they climb the stairs to the top of the building.
The stair climb, which has been taking place for more than a decade, has raised more than $40 million to support the mission of the American Lung Association.
More than 30,000 participants from 63 Climb events across the country came together last year to raise more than $8 million. The SPC Fire Academy recruits raised $1,372, which will help the American Lung Association raise awareness and funds to support research, patient programs and advocacy efforts.
