Study Abroad with SPC in Italy!  Students will learn about the influence of Rome on the development of Western art, architecture, and ideas. We will encounter Rome’s heroic past, the growth of the empire, the pervasive influence of the Roman Catholic Church during the Middle Ages, and the blending of Christian themes and Classical forms in the period of the Renaissance.

In Rome, students will be able to experience great works of art and architecture first-hand by visiting the Vatican Museum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum. In addition to visiting Rome, we will also tour Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, Venice, and Assisi.

The experience will give students a better understanding of Italy’s central place in the development of Western civilization.

This was built by Mussolini but was disliked by the people because he was a fascist dictator … Continue reading Italy HS – Sightseeing in Rome by Corey Yeung

Italy HS – Lessons From Buddhism by Karissa Barrera

Today we learned about Buddhism- or about as much as one can learn about Buddhism in half an hour… We listened to the story of how Siddhartha Gautama reached enlightenment. We learned about the basic structure and principles of Buddhism, of desire and the self. And finally, we had an excellent conversation about only experiencing … Continue reading Italy HS – Lessons From Buddhism by Karissa Barrera

Italy HS – A place that brings people together by Brae Elliott

Castel Sant’Angelo Rome thus far is so surreal. Every moment feels like you are walking into one of your daydreams. There are so many things to look at in the stores; colorful labels grab your attention from … Continue reading Italy HS – A place that brings people together by Brae Elliott
