Study Abroad with SPC in Italy!  Students will learn about the influence of Rome on the development of Western art, architecture, and ideas. We will encounter Rome’s heroic past, the growth of the empire, the pervasive influence of the Roman Catholic Church during the Middle Ages, and the blending of Christian themes and Classical forms in the period of the Renaissance.

In Rome, students will be able to experience great works of art and architecture first-hand by visiting the Vatican Museum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum. In addition to visiting Rome, we will also tour Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, Venice, and Assisi.

The experience will give students a better understanding of Italy’s central place in the development of Western civilization.

How Can We Be Learning So Much In Such A Little Time? by Mikayla Bridges

After many nights of sleeping in what felt like an ice box, I finally had a great night sleep once we figured out we had set the air conditioning to the snow flake setting. Today in class, we discussed the topic of genocide. It was actually very interesting to hear the details of genocides that … Continue reading How Can We Be Learning So Much In Such A Little Time? by Mikayla Bridges

HS School Trip Invades Rome!!! by John Hesting

SPC Collegiate and Dual enrollment students have landed in Roma, Italia.  After an arduous 10 hour flight and arrival in Rome at 7:30 AM, the students hit the ground running (because we couldn’t check into our hotel yet!) with our first tour of St. Peter’s Square to hear Pope Francesco’s Sunday address to the cheering … Continue reading HS School Trip Invades Rome!!! by John Hesting

On the fourth day of Italy~ by Benjamin Cheaney

Today wasn’t as exciting as the days before. It was definitely exciting, just not as much as seeing the Coliseum or climbing the Basilica. We went to the United States Embassy of the Holy See. It was really quite interesting although I don’t remember much. We took a bus across the city, past the Coliseum … Continue reading On the fourth day of Italy~ by Benjamin Cheaney

That's nice and all but where is your favorite Gelato place? by Christian Bean

Today we went to the U.S.A embassy in the Vatican. That was an interesting experience, I was always curious on what type of diplomatic issues we discuss with the Vatican. To start the U.S.A embassy was really nice; it was simple which made it pretty. The staff was really nice and patient with us and … Continue reading That's nice and all but where is your favorite Gelato place? by Christian Bean

Even Diplomats Love Gelato! by Cheyenne Lake

It is now Wednesday, this morning we had our third class of the trip. As we did yesterday, each of us acted as a country and spoke upon their behalf when it comes to drugs/drug trafficking and how that affects international relations. Also, we discussed how certain drug trafficking affects foreign policy. In addition, we … Continue reading Even Diplomats Love Gelato! by Cheyenne Lake

551 Steps to Heaven on Earth! by Cheyenne Lake

During the International Relations class, we discussed about power and dominance internationally between countries, as well as made an extremely miniature mock UN and debated each of our country’s stances on global warming, which was quite interesting. Going back to power, one of the things we noted is that power changes between different peoples eventually, … Continue reading 551 Steps to Heaven on Earth! by Cheyenne Lake

Rome just keeps getting better! by Mikayla Bridges

Today was, yet again, an amazing day!!! In class we had our first model UN about the subject of global warming at my insistence. As a future environmental engineer, this is one of my favorite subjects. I would be representing Japan, who believes environmental concerns need to be addressed, but has put many other issues … Continue reading Rome just keeps getting better! by Mikayla Bridges

Days 3 and 4: Gelati and the Holy See by Lily Gayton

DAY 3 On Tuesday morning we walked to the university again. The walk seemed shorter knowing how far the destination was. We spent the class discussing global warming, and about how different countries have different beliefs and solutions to the problem. We tried to reach a compromise between the countries as to what a solution … Continue reading Days 3 and 4: Gelati and the Holy See by Lily Gayton
