The Back to School Checklist! #careerspc

back to school

Remember when going back to school meant all you needed to think about was buying a new pair of jeans and a new backpack? Although you may still need a new pair of jeans and a new backpack, heading back to college means that you should add a few other things to your Back to School Checklist.

Here’s a brief list of campus resources and services that every college student should take time to know.

The Campus Library: Aside from state of the art shared public and college library facilities, today many library services are available online. From things like streaming videos, audio and electronic books and even the ability to get assistance from a cyber-librarian, many library resources can be accessed anywhere. In addition, some campus libraries offer free, in-person basic computer workshops, academic writing workshops and even children story-time events for the students that have a family.

Career Services: Campus Career Services can help with everything from finding a job to deciding your career path and college program. The Career Services team is available to assist with guiding you through writing a resume, connecting with an internship opportunity and even preparing for a job interview. Through workshops, events and classroom presentations, career services should be one of the main resources that you tap into when heading back to school.

Learning Support Center: The Learning Support Centers on campus is a great place for students to get the assistance of tutors, utilize the computer lab or even find a quiet place to study. Research shows that students who regularly visit campus Learning Centers have a better than average success rate in college.

Student Life and Leadership: Student Life and Leadership is a great way for a student to participate in clubs and organizations on campus. Each campus overs a variety of academic and special interest clubs and all students are encouraged to participate. Student Life and Leadership also hosts a variety of events and activities throughout the year to help students have a memorable college experience.

These are just some of the campus resources that all students should add to their Back to School Checklist. So after you get the jeans and the backpack, be sure to check them out.
