St. Petersburg College is involved in several initiatives to address the employment gap.  Specifically, in the area of advanced manufacturing technologies, SPC is leading eleven  other colleges throughout the state to design and implement training programs under the Florida TRADE grant. 100% of the students in SPC’s first cohort successfully passed the MSSC certified production technician examination. The cohort will continue the second part of their hands-on training in a brand-new facility in partnership with LumaStream, a growing LED manufacturing company in Midtown, St. Petersburg. For more information about the SPC-LumaStream partnership, follow SPC News. Students will complete the training with two industry certifications and an internship, where they become integrated with a company’s culture and refine their technical and “soft” skills.
