Working toward an A.S. in Respiratory Care takes only two semesters once you are admitted into the program. After passing the advanced practitioners’ exam through the National Board for Respiratory Care, you could become a registered respiratory therapist.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Respiratory Therapist employment is expected to grow by 29% through 2020. Respiratory Therapists are needed to help treat medical conditions in aging populations such as pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. You could find work in hospitals, emergency rooms, diagnostic testing centers, and physicians’ offices.
