Once you have earned your A.S. degree and pass the advanced practitioners’ exam through the National Board for Respiratory Care, you become a registered respiratory therapist.
Outlook
Employment of respiratory therapists is expected to grow by 28% through 2020, faster than the average for all occupations. As the population ages, the incidence of respiratory conditions such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis and pneumonia will increase and need to be treated.
