Looking for success in business? Ready to explore the majors offered at St. Petersburg College? Then plan to spend the day at the Seminole Campus tomorrow Thursday, Feb. 26th.
We are pleased to welcome our keynote speaker, Tammy Curtis, finalist for the 2014 Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Business Woman of the Year award, and the Managing Director of the Central Florida region for Steven Douglas Associates. Ms. Curtis will share her insights on how to succeed in building a personal brand and executive presence.
Tammy is also one of those people who inspires in her personal life. She adopted her son from foster care, and is now a national spokesperson for Wendy’s Wonderful Kids. Tammy is proof you can build success in both your personal and professional life. Her presentation will take place in the Seminole Campus Digitorium from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. Come and be inspired!

Career Boot Camp concludes this Friday, Feb. 27th at St. Petersburg College’s EpiCenter! The session will run from 9-10 a.m. in Room 1-328.
Need help with job search preparation? Come learn how to be a competitive applicant. Stand out from the crowd by attending our resume, job search, and interview preparation workshops. Come to all three, and receive a Boot Camp Certificate of Completion.
This week’s focus will be on interview techniques. Michael Cordeiro, account manager with TEKsystems, will be sharing his ideas on how to make your interview memorable.

St. Petersburg College’s Tampa Bay Hi-Tech Training (HITT) program offers technology certification training to local unemployed residents at no cost to them. This program was created by the U.S. Department of Labor to train IT professionals who have been long-term unemployed so they can upgrade their technical skills. The program covers the costs of tuition, books and fees at SPC or Hillsborough Community College, and is made possible through a $3.8 million grant awarded to the Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance and CareerSource Pinellas from the U.S. Department of Labor.

Since 2005, St. Petersburg College has been a national leader in developing and providing Orthotics and Prosthetics training through its $11-million J.E. Hanger College of Orthotics and Prosthetics. This expanding allied health field involves evaluating, fabricating, and custom fitting artificial limbs and orthopedic braces to help rehabilitate patients with disabling conditions. Demand for these professions is increasing, as are the education requirements.

To help boost the local, skilled, supply chain workforce, SPC will begin offering entry to mid-level certifications in supply chain management. The training is being offered through a $1.5 million federal grant received last year.
The LINCS (Leveraging, Integrating, Networking, and Coordinating Supplies) Supply Chain Management Program is a great way to earn entry to mid-level industry certifications that will enable individuals to enter and advance in their supply chain careers.
