SPC Allstate Presents: Resume and Cover Letter Workshop

 

Resume writing can be tough – and if you don’t think it is, yours may not be up to snuff. In this comprehensive Resume Workshop, Dee Mortellaro, Career Specialist, will outline the basic parts that every resume must have, and give you actual tools to help make that happen.

Here at the Allstate Center, we like to think of resumes and cover letters as an art, not a science. Meaning that while one employer may like a specific style, another may not. This workshop will focus primarily on one’s Profile, Work Experience, and Education sections, while also touching on additional sections that could be added (i.e. Leaderships, Certifications, Professional Associations, Skills etc.

So ask yourself, “does my resume has what it takes to nail my dream job?’’  Both your resume and cover letter are two very essential things to have when in quest to land your dream job. When creating the perfect resume and cover letter don’t be surprised if you find it to be a stressful process. You may think that it can be easily done in a short time, yet will all the formatting and being sure to follow the guidelines it could take at least an hour. In addition to assisting with job searches, resumes and cover letters are also vital in finding internships. And even if you’re not looking for a job – or ready to graduate yet, a resume workshop can be a great way to start crafting these ever-changing documents.Resume Workshop

Those who are interested be sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 15h from 4pm – 6pm on the Allstate Campus, in the library. If attending, you can expect for us to cover the following topics:

  • Transferrable Skill
  • Writing for the FUTURE job
  • Crafting the perfect bullet point
  • Summarizing your experience to a short profile
  • Creating dynamic verbiage
