Dear Faculty and Staff,
In light of recent events at the University of Virginia and in the city of Charlottesville, Va., I would like to take some time to reassure you that at St. Petersburg College, we celebrate the diversity of our students, faculty and staff and we denounce hateful speech and actions that are meant to divide us, instead of unite us.
We send our condolences and hopes for peace to the families and friends of all those affected by the tragic situation that has unfolded in Virginia. I know that many of you are hurting from the disturbing events over the past week. Please remember that the college offers free counseling sessions and referrals through our Employee Assistance Program.
One of the most beautiful things about St. Petersburg College is our incredible diversity. We are a reflection of our community, which is made up of many races, ethnicities, religious affiliations, political beliefs, and physical abilities.
We value inclusiveness and we believe that all people should be treated with dignity and respect. By doing so, we show the world that we stand up for equality for all people and accomplish the guiding principles of our institution and the needs of our communities.
And remember, at St. Petersburg College, you are valued, and appreciated, and we respect you.
