Greece Study Abroad program receives $15,000 in scholarships

The Tarpon Springs City Commission unanimously voted this week to award five $3,000 SPC Greece Study Abroad 2024 Program scholarships. Professor Basil Moutsatsos and Provost Rodrigo Davis presented the idea a few months back in connection with the Tarpon Springs Sister Cities Committee and the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce but were able to get official approval this week for the funds. A large part of the study abroad program itinerary includes visiting several of Tarpon Springs’s sister cities in Greece which will help teach students about the local connection they have with Pinellas County.

The scholarship requires students to have graduated from Tarpon Springs High School or reside within the city of Tarpon Springs.

The $15,000 gift for study abroad scholarships is the first time the city has given this gift and the SPC International Programs is excited to inform students of this additional avenue of funding.
