International Programs Dinners

ts dinnerSPC’s International Programs hosted special dinners this fall for faculty, staff and students on the Tarpon Springs and SP/Gibbs Campuses.

Attendees learned about International Programs’ initiatives, how Study Abroad programs are created and participated in creative conversations sharing ideas for improvements. These creative conversations produced many helpful ideas on how to move forward SPC’s commitment to internationalize the college.

Special presentations detailing their innovative Study Abroad programs, were led by faculty Roxana Levin, Dawn Joyce, Jim Wallis, Sara Brzezinski, Cher Gauweiler, and Amy Krueger.

We would like to give a special thanks to President Bill Law, Senior Vice President Anne Cooper, Provost Marvin Bright, Provost Jamelle Conner, and to all SPC faculty and staff who attended the event.

2015 Global Citizen Festival – #GlobalGoals

globalfestivalSpread the word about the 2015 Global Citizen Festival, taking place on September 26th in New York City’s Central Park.

The main object? Strengthening the movement to end poverty. Guiding this movement are Global Goals set by the UN General Assembly in New York (with world leaders from 193 countries):

  1. End extreme poverty by 2030
  2. Fight inequalities
  3. Tackle climate change.

Artists like Beyoncé, Pearl Jam, and Coldplay, among others, will perform during this festival to bring attention to these goals and to help achieve policy and financial commitments that will shape the success of the Global Goals.

We need your help to make sure these goals won’t stay just political rhetoric, but will have real impact. The more famous these Global Goals are, and the more widely understood they are, the more politicians will take them seriously, finance them properly, refer to them frequently and feel the pressure to make them a reality.

This weekend, help #GlobalGoals trend on Twitter and spread the word to your family and friends. We’re all a part of this movement together, and it’s only together that we can achieve the Global Goals.
