Nominate a Neighbor-The First Annual Phoenix Award

SPC is co-sponsoring the Phoenix Award, which was announced by our partners at RISE St. Pete and the Warehouse Arts District Association as a new annual honor befitting St. Pete’s community spirit.

The Phoenix Award is inspired by the heroes of 9/11 and will honor three members of the St. Petersburg community whose tireless and selfless work goes unrecognized and is deserving of public praise.

Nominations for the inaugural Phoenix Award are now open at wadastpete.com/awards, and you are encouraged to submit nominations for the everyday heroes in their lives.

Please consider nominating someone!

The 2024 awards will honor three individuals, and each recipient of this prestigious award will be presented with a small replica statue of the iconic Rise St. Pete sculpture, meticulously crafted by artist Mark Aeling using steel salvaged from the Twin Towers.

The Phoenix Award, named for the mythical creature rising anew from the flames and ashes, is meant to provide recognition for those doing invaluable and often unrecognized work in the community – particularly those with a selfless attitude and grateful work ethic.

In addition to the statue and recognition, each honoree will also receive $1,000 as a further award for their selfless and tireless dedication to their community.

The winners will be honored and awarded at the WADA’s Annual 9/11 Commemoration Event taking place on September 11 at The ArtsXchange.
