NOW “HOMELESS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM”
Empowering others on a daily basis and the new name reflects that.
After nearly three decades operating as the “Homeless Emergency Project,” HEP will now be doing business as the “Homeless Empowerment Program.”
The name change is part of a re-branding initiative to better align the organization’s name with the programs and services they currently offer homeless individuals, families and veterans living on their expansive 8-acre campus.
HEP President and CEO, Terrance McAbee, stated, “When the organization was first developed, we were very much serving the homeless population on an “emergency” basis – providing basic needs like food, shelter and clothing. Today, HEP offers a wide range of services designed to break the cycle of homelessness, including on-site medical care, mental health counseling, transportation, job training, nutrition programs, child care and more. In addition, we’ve expanded our housing model to not only include emergency shelters, but also transitional and permanent supportive housing to provide more comprehensive long-term care. It is for these reasons that our leadership team and Board of Directors has decided to change the name of our organization – to better represent all that we have to offer, and will continue to offer in the future.”
They have also launched a redesigned website in order to give web visitors a user-friendly tool to learn information about HEP’s services and programs, as well as information about how they can get involved with the organization.
