Memorial Day 2016

Amidst all the family gatherings and cookouts this Memorial Day, these words are sometimes forgotten.  Join us today by taking a moment to remember those who have died for the benefit of our Nation.

From the first shots fired at Lexington and Concord, through the World Wars, to battles that took our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines to Asia, Africa, Central America, and the Middle East, millions of brave Americans have humbly given their lives for us, so we can continue to enjoy

“Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

I have been asked to share the following letter regarding the upcoming Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Florida Veterans Memorial. Please pass along this information to all interested and consider attending this most worthy event.

To: Fellow Veterans and Friends

Re: Invitation to Attend Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Please mark your calendars to attend the long-awaited unveiling of the Florida Veterans Memorial Plaza at Crest Lake Park this coming May 29th. The attached official flyer provides event details.

Unique in design in the state of Florida, the Florida Veterans Memorial Plaza commemorates United States Military Veterans who have honorably served from WW I through the most current conflicts since the tragedy of 9/11, including the Cold War period.

Our website presents the latest rendering of the completed Memorial Plaza along with instructions to reserve a black granite Memorial plaque for self or others. All reservations are carefully reviewed to assure the Wall remembers honorably served Veterans. An example of an inscribed plaque is presented on the website. The Florida Veterans Memorial Plaza is meant to honor those who have served from all across the United States, from Pinellas County residents and beyond.
