SPC students participate at BSides 2018 Conference

BSides Tampa is a yearly Information Security Conference hosted by the Tampa Bay Chapter of (ISC)2. The BSides Tampa conference focuses on providing attendees with the latest in information security research, development, and exploits. The conference featured various presentations and demonstrations from the best minds in industry and academia. More than 750 attendees also participated in Electronic Badge Assembly, Lock Pick Village, Car Hacking Village, Capture the Flag competition, Escape Room, and Resume Review.

Club advisor and CCIT Academic Chair Laura Malave, Club President Michael Milford, and club member Frances Sanchez had the opportunity to participate in the conference as volunteers. SPC students/club members in attendance  included: Nathan Turner, Thuc Nguyen, Sabrina Mitchell, Jesus Pernia, Bradley Meister, Rodney Dillota, Jacob Bertramsen, and Violeta Tutka.

“I had a great time volunteering at BSides, and it was great so many other students attended. I hope to see more of our students volunteering and attending Bsides Tampa,” Milford said about his BSides experience.

SPC students participate in Escape Room at 2018 BSides Tampa Conference

“We had so much fun at this conference and grew as a team by working together in the Escape Room and generally navigating around the events. In addition, we met with a few community organizations and continued to expand those relationships. Overall, it was a very successful event!” Sanchez said regarding her BSides experience.
