CCIT welcomes Tammy Cappleman

Tammy Cappleman
Instructor

I began my career at St. Petersburg College at the Tarpon Springs Campus in 2000 as an Administrative Specialist working in the career development, business services, counseling/advising and the Honors College. After many happy years at the Tarpon Campus, I moved to the EpiCenter under the supervision of the Vice President of Enrollment Management. During that time, I worked with the Enrollment Management team to begin to streamline enrollment processes. Although it was very rewarding, I missed the face-to-face contact with students. I was then hired as a student support advisor at the Health Education Center where I currently reside. I love to assist all students in achieving their educational goals and am passionate about working with the veteran population as a Veteran Liaison at the Health Education Center.

My educational background is very diverse. I earned an Associate in Arts with a concentration in mass communications. I had a very exciting internship at ABC Action News in Tampa working in the public relations department and was “Associate Producer” in a weekly public service talk show. After completing an AA degree, I started in the Associate in Science Landscaping program, however that program was dissolved. I quickly decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree and completed the Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology Management from St. Petersburg College. I also received the Microsoft Certified Office Specialist Certificate. After a brief rest from classes, I then decided to pursue a Master of Public Administration with Barry University through the University Partnership program at the Seminole Campus.

I spend my off hours as an active member of the Association of Florida Colleges, I volunteer with Horses for Heroes, a veteran equestrian therapy riding program, I am a volunteer and I am a supporter of Homeless Emergency Project and Clothes to Kids in Clearwater. Additionally, I am a 10 gallon blood donor at Florida Blood Services. I also moderate in the Ethics Bowl. I enjoy spending time with my family and riding a scooter to watch the beautiful sunsets over Caladesi Island.

I have a very hands-on-teaching philosophy in the fact that I want to make sure you grasp the material which will help you succeed in your educational experience at St. Petersburg College. I believe in class interaction and may request students to work in teams during parts of the class.
