In its 10th year of attending the National Model United Nations (NMUN) conference in Washington, DC, SPC’s Model United Nations (MUN) brought home another Outstanding Delegation award.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the MUN program at the College. At the conference, held November 7-9, SPC was recognized not only with the Outstanding Delegation award, but also for its 10th consecutive year of attendance. The team was one of six schools that received this distinction, the highest awarded.

NMUN remains the largest and oldest ongoing intercollegiate Model United Nations in the world. Since the program’s inception, the team has consistently won high-level awards at domestic and international MUN conferences. In fact, the team has won a delegation award at 27 of 29 NMUN conferences and attained the Outstanding or Distinguished distinction at 23 of 29 NMUN conferences (top 25%).

SPC MUN’s attendance at this year’s conference was also rewarding as Alliyah Edwards, a former SPC student and member of SPC MUN, served as the 2025’s NMUN-DC Secretary-General.

The SPC delegates were thrilled to receive the Outstanding Delegation distinction, as it was the culmination of months of hard work and preparations.

Jovan Billings, a first-time delegate, shared, “I can’t say enough positive things about how much this experience has impacted all of us individually and as a whole! Thank you, faculty, and SPC!”

SPC MUN representing Spain

At the conference, SPC had the honor of representing Spain. Over the course of the fall semester, the delegates tirelessly prepared through bi-weekly meetings and simulations, various hands-on activities, and virtual meetings, including with the University of New Haven’s MUN team. Before the conference began, the delegates visited the Spanish embassy in D.C. There, students had the opportunity to query embassy officials and gather some last-minute information.

Once sessions formally began, SPC delegates were very active and involved in the following MUN committees and topics:

Next step: Montreal and New York

The work of SPC MUN will continue in Spring 2026. Two more conferences are planned in Montreal, QC and New York City, NY. Student recruitment for both events will start soon. These conferences will offer other exciting opportunities for SPC-MUN students to showcase their skills.

Last but not least, the success of SPC MUN would not have been possible without the support of the college and Dean Joseph Smiley, as well as the overall campus community. As always, SPC MUN’s student delegates and faculty members are looking forward to carrying out the College flag and enhancing its national and global reputation.
