St. Petersburg College students had a slice of leadership at Pizza with the President on Friday, March 29. The SPC Seminole Campus hosted the annual event.
Once a year, SPC President Dr. Tonjua Williams spends around two hours sharing the latest updates from the college. She also answers questions and takes innovative ideas from the students.
Williams began the session by updating the student on her travels to Tallahassee. She described her meetings with legislators and how she advocated for the college’s needs. She also shared SPC’s focus. This included reducing the physical footprint as a cost savings, exploring workforce programs, and efforts to improve the course schedule.
The students shared how others highly respect college, especially the veteran community, as it provides necessary resources. One idea the students recommended was additional support for working students with young children.
Overall, the experience was the perfect opportunity for students to have a seat at the president’s table, learn about the college’s initiatives, share ideas and have a meal. Pizza with the President is always an event everyone looks forward to!
