Tampa Bay’s Fox 13 News recently profiled SPC President Dr. Tonjua Williams as part of their What’s Right with Tampa Bay series. In the segment that also honored Black History Month, Dr. Williams reunites with SPC alumna Deniann Grant, who considers Dr. Williams a true mentor.
A St. Petersburg native, Dr. Williams began her tenure as the seventh president of St. Petersburg College after working for the college for close to 30 years in nearly every department. She was one of the first black students to attend Boca Ciega High School in the 1970s as it transitioned from an all-white institution in the face of riots and other disturbances.
Dr. Williams noted that she is amazed, excited, happy and thrilled to take on her leadership role and hopes her journey can inspire others through hard work, dedication and passion. Learn more on Fox 13 News!
