Williams honored by The Weekly Challenger and Pinellas Opportunity Council

President Tonjua Williams has been honored by both The Weekly Challenger and Pinellas Opportunity Council.

On Friday, Oct. 27, Dr. Williams received the inaugural Impact Award from The Weekly Challenger at their 50th Anniversary celebration. Dr. Williams was recognized for her contributions to the community.

On Wednesday, Nov. 1, the Pinellas Opportunity Council, Inc. (POC) awarded Dr. Williams the inaugural President’s Award for Community Leadership at its fourth annual Community Awareness Breakfast. Dr. Williams was honored for her outstanding leadership and impact on the community. The President’s Award recognizes an individual whose accomplishments exemplify the values and principles inherent in the vision embodied in the mission of POC.

Dr. Williams thanked everyone for the honor in a Facebook post stating, “Thank you The Weekly Challenger Newspaper for honoring me with one of your first Impact Awards! I’m so humbled by this recognition! I wish I could have been there with you all last night. Happy 50th anniversary and thank you for everything you do for our community!”

Pinellas Opportunity Council, Inc. is a not-for-profit “Community Action Agency”, that identifies and addresses the many and varied material, emotional, social, vocational and educational needs of people – particularly the economically disadvantaged – throughout Pinellas County.
