St. Petersburg College’s Human Resources team put on a wonderful event to celebrate the college’s dedicated employees. The First Annual Evening of Excellence was held on Sept. 14 at the Palladium Theater to showcase employees who have reached a significant number of years of service with the college.
SPC Board of Trustees Chair Jason Butts and Pinellas County Commissioner Charlie Justice spoke at the event about the invaluable contributions of the college’s employees. Moments of camaraderie and heartfelt speeches recognized employees’ longstanding dedication.
Also recognized for her years of dedication and service to SPC was President Dr. Tonjua Williams. Her tenure at SPC began in 1986, and she rose through the ranks in a variety of academic and administrative roles.

SPC celebrated its 96th birthday at the annual SPC Day on Sept. 12, and many of college’s employees have been at SPC for almost half a century since classes were first taught at the institution. Today, SPC serves over 36,000 students annually and offers over 200 degrees, certificates, and transfer programs, including many high-demand, high-skill industry-recognized workforce certifications. The Evening of Excellence celebrated these employees’ contributions to the college’s ongoing achievements and success.
