The Business Observer 2023 Big Book of Business special edition recognized SPC President Dr. Tonjua Williams a Change-Maker.
In selecting this year’s Change-Maker recipients, Business Observer editors sought leaders who are risk-takers, visionary thinkers and have a willingness to challenge the status quo.
The Business Observer selected nine individuals from the Lakeland and Tampa south to Naples area for the Change Maker section. Dr. Williams is part of a select group of entrepreneurs, nonprofit executives and industry leaders who all share a common trait: they facilitate and lead sustainable change within their organization or larger community.
Dr. Williams has helped SPC reach new heights as the seventh president. The Chronicle of Higher Education named SPC a top producer in the Fulbright Scholarship Program. U.S. News and World Report ranked St. Petersburg College among the top in Best Online Bachelor’s Programs and Veterans Services. The College received Best of the Best awards from the Tampa Bay Times for Best Local College and Best Nursing College.
“If there ever was a time for us to change what we do, we thought this was it. Which is also why we’re so excited to offer a new tool that can inform and inspire business leaders,” said Kat Wingert, executive editor of the Business Observer. “The people and companies featured in our second annual Big Book of Business are truly at the top of their industry and are leading change to help transform their communities and make them better places to live and do business.”
