SPC President Dr. Tonjua Williams recently had the pleasure of helping to kick off the 30th annual America II SportsFest. This event brought together teams from the area to compete against each other in fun events! And it all took place on a gorgeous, sunny April morning at the Sirata Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach.
“It’s a beautiful day to be on the beach, and this is such a great opportunity to get out and have fun with other organizations in our community and make new connections,” she said.
SPC was one of 168 teams from 134 organizations that participated in SportsFest. In addition to participating in the volleyball, dodgeball and tug-of-war events, the college had a mobile marketing tent set up, where they gave away lots of swag to the hundreds of people on the beach.
Williams got the crowd going with some call and response, then made sure to invite everyone to check out all that SPC has to offer.
“St. Petersburg College is here to support,” she told the crowd. “And we do a lot of partnerships with businesses. If you’re ready to do something different in your company or organization, do not forget about St. Petersburg College. There’s nothing junior about us!”
