President Dr. Tonjua Williams Named TBBJ’s 2017 Businesswoman of the Year

President Dr. Tonjua Williams was named the 2017 Businesswoman of the Year in the Government/Nonprofit category by the Tampa Bay Business Journal (TBBJ) on Friday, Aug. 11.

Williams was recognized for her work on the creation and implementation of “The College Experience,” SPC’s five-part student development plan that increased African-American and Hispanic male completion rates by about 16 percent. SPC has experienced a 27.4 percent increase in the number of graduates over the past two years. As college president, Williams said her goal is to impact the lives of others.

“I want others to learn how to be confident in themselves, achieve the success they deserve, and be willing to give back,” she said.

President Dr. Tonjua Williams was honored at TBBJ’s annual Businesswoman of the Year gala in Clearwater Beach on Friday.
