We spent our second day in Costa Rica trying to catch sea turtles. We set our nets in the water and went up to the beaches waiting for one to swim into the nets. While we were waiting, we all went swimming and enjoyed exploring the beach. In the water we were able to find different types of coral and live rock.
There were also three adorable dogs that lived on the beach we were at that had fun following us and spending the day with us. We were able to catch a Hawksbill turtle which was a treat for us since it was the first of that species that we had caught so far on this trip. We took measurements of her and recorded her tag numbers.
We also made observations of the worms that were living on the shell.
After we finished we carried her to the water to release her. It was amazing to watch her swim back to the water and eventually disappear into the water.
I love that picture with the trail she made going back into the water. Gorgeous creatures that we had a small impact in hopefully saving.
