The first lady, Michelle Obama, is working to promote Study Abroad among students in the United States. “The benefits of studying abroad are almost endless,” Michelle said during the CNN interview. According to her, companies are more likely to hire people with knowledge and experience about other cultures.

Studying Abroad is an advantage for individuals when competing for jobs in the market.

Howard Wallack, the vice president of a human resources trade group, stated that he was a Study Abroad student, and he learned to deal with a variety of people, how to listen, how to be proactive, patient, and assertive. That just reinforces the first lady’s statement on the importance of Studying Abroad.

Organizations such as the Institute of International Education have launched programs such as Generation Study Abroad in hopes of doubling the number of U.S. students who travel internationally.
