The SPC Model United Nations Program provides an opportunity for students to travel to collegiate National Model United Nations Conferences. Each fall and spring term students are selected to travel, along with SPC faculty. In November 2015, the SPC group traveled the the Czech Republic.
Before the conference, students prepare to represent the interest of country that was assigned by NMUN. We represented China. At the conference, students discuss global issues and draft resolutions that propose solutions to global or regional issues. This is a wonderful program for students as they gain valuable speaking, research and writing skills, and meet students from around the world. I enjoy working and travel with the students, and experiencing the MUN conference with them.
The conference took place at Palacký University in Olomouc. Before the start of the conference we visited historic sites and museums. We visited the medieval Bouzov Castle, walked through Javoříčko caves, and toured Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp in Poland.
We were out of country for eight days, and the entire time was an educational and enriching experience for all.
