St. Petersburg College was honored to host its very first Fulbright soirée at the beautiful Palladium Theater on November 6, 2014. The glittering evening event welcomed 75 visiting Fulbright Scholars from 41 countries in town for the Tampa Bay area’s first Fulbright Enrichment Seminar. The seminar, sponsored by World Partnerships, Inc., focused on climate change and the plight of the oceans. Relaxing after sessions and screenings at the Blue Ocean Film Festival and Conservation Summit, Fulbright scholars networked with SPC faculty, staff, and a member of the Board of Trustees while enjoying the music of SPC’s MIRA students. Ramona Kirsch, SPC Director of the Center for International Programs, welcomed the attendees, and Dr. Kevin Gordon, SPC Provost Downtown/Midtown, told the Palladium’s storied history and promoted St. Petersburg College. The soirée strengthened the already firm bond between SPC and the Fulbright Program, and we hope to continue adding SPC alumni and faculty names to the prestigious list of Fulbright Scholars.
