Italy HS – Our first day by Corey Yeung

Our group had a superb, although tiring second day. We first went to see the old Colosseum and learned that it could hold 50,000 to 70,000 people at a time and was made up of four levels.

The base had to hold a lot of weight and so as the Colosseum got higher, the weight became lighter with this “red brick” material.

We also went to the Palatine Hill Museum and the Roman Forum that looked spectacular with the mesmerizing landscaping and historical artifacts.

We also went to the St. Clemen’s Church that had amazing mosaics, pictures, and paintings with great symbolic meaning. Lastly, we had Gelato that tasted delicious and we one of the best ice cream I had ever ate. Again this was an arduous day but was marvelous as a first day in Italy.
