Jefferson High School in Tampa is holding a FREE Cultural Festival to celebrate World Refugee Day on June 12 from 5-7:30 PM
Every year on June 20, the UN Refugee Agency’s World Refugee Day commemorates the strength and resilience of the millions people around the world forced to flee their homes due to war or human rights abuses. Jefferson High School in Tampa is raising awareness for this cause by holding a free Cultural Festival. This event is open to the public, and features events and activities for all ages, including a fashion show and cultural performances to highlight the diverse cultural art that the community has gained through the resettlement of refugees. There will be educational displays and replicas such as refugee camps to show the refugee experience. The festival also includes plenty of free food, children’s activities, and resource tables. This is a wonderful opportunity to support awareness of refugee and other international populations and to find out more about how they enrich local communities.
