Field Trip to Edgecomb Courthouse

Blog Picture“On this trip, I put into practice all of the knowledge that I have gained in these months in the International Language Institute. At Edgecomb Courthouse, there are certain words that are not often heard in daily life, but they are important to have a good use of the language. I recognized the importance of the laws implemented by the authorities. These laws allow a peaceful life in any nation regardless of culture or location.” -Nicolas Carrera

“I’ve had one of my best experiences visiting the Tampa Courthouse, since I came here to Florida. I was initially interested in the development and history of the judicial system in Florida, as well as the architectural details of this building. But suddenly, my point of view changed when we met the judges. We had an interesting conversation with them, and we discussed Florida’s laws. It was very helpful, because we were all students from different countries and different cultures too. We learned how important it is to follow the rules in Florida, and how this country manages its citizens even though they come from other different cultures. It was very interesting to learn about the history of how the judicial system has been improved up until our days.” -Olta Celaj

“Last week, SPC International Language Institute organized a field trip at Tampa Courthouse. During the visit, we had the opportunity to learn how the court system works, and also how laws are applied. We watched several cases about young people who were driving under the influence of alcohol, or driving while their driver license was suspended. Also, we had the opportunity to ask questions to the judge and he explained everything to us that we didn’t understand about the cases. We enjoyed that experience and had a great time.” -Orledja Sanxhaku
