About coffee farms and mountain views!

10-27Wednesday 07/27 – Wednesday morning is finally here! We are getting ready to go to the coffee farm currently sitting out by the pool eating breakfast with the crew.  Once we arrived at the coffee shop, we were greeted with amazing actors that gave us a very informative tour and one that’s quite comical. We sampled coffee along the way and learned the information about the local coffee pickers and the coffee itself. Coffee pickers make between 2-3mil colones per basket and a good, experienced picker can bring in nearly 20 baskets a day, not bad money for picking coffee! My dear friend Leylin posed for a photo as a coffee picker and performed a demonstration.  After our tour, I shared some quality time with fellow students and the professor at El Midador, a local restaurant with a scenic view of the city that it absolutely breathtaking. I tried to order my dinner in Spanish to get the full experience, and with some assistance from my friends I was able to do it. I also learned a new word “hielo”, it means ice in Spanish!

310-27-2Tuesday 08/02 – Today we drove up the mountains headed to La Paz Waterfalls. It was a breathtaking experience coming to this location and was by far one of the most favorite activities. We saw several different waterfalls on the nature hike and saw various flowers and zoo animals throughout the property. I event went fishing at the trout lake and caught a rainbow trout! After our exhausting day hiking through the mountains, we ended the day with another lecture meeting on negotiation strategies amongst different countries and cultures. We analyzed and discussed the benefits of each strategy and the impact they have.
