Today was a bittersweet day as it was our last full day on this quaint island for our Bonaire Study Abroad program. My roommates and I started off the day with breakfast at Buddy Dive Resort. We took full advantage of the options given from their free breakfast since we knew this would be our last time eating there. We loaded our plates up with all sorts of pastries and freshly baked croissants. We spent all of our breakfasts here and reminisced about our trip and how we would miss getting breakfast with each other and being roommates in general. After breakfast, we gathered up our diving gear and loaded up the car to head to our last dives. We dove at a site called “Something Special” which turned out to be just as the name states. This dive was different from all our previous dives as it did not contain as much coral but was an open underwater landscape with a small ship wreck. This was truly something special to me since I have not seen an underwater ship wreck and have always wanted to scuba dive to see one. To make this dive even more special, there was a giant green moray eel under the hull of the ship; it was the biggest moray eel I have ever seen! We finished up the dive about an hour later and loaded our gear into the vans to head back to Buddy Dive Resort to do our final dive off their docks. This very last dive was great as we finally got to see the elusive frog fish which looks exactly as you would think. This was a very relaxing dive for me. As I swam through the reef I thought about how wonderful this has been and how Bonaire will remain a special place in my heart. I hope to return soon to relive these precious memories.
