Adventures of a Study Abroad Student in Bonaire

IMG_0245Today has been quite an adventure in Bonaire. We started off the day by doing a beach clean up on the southeastern portion of the island. It was insane to see how much trash was piled up on the rocky shoreline and I believe we filled almost 20 huge duffel bags with trash.

We then traveled to Lac Bai and spent several hours there windsurfing, snorkeling, and relaxing. This area was very unique because of the very shallow water and strong winds, providing the perfect environment for windsurfing.

We had dinner at a restaurant in town called Pasa Bon Pizza, which was absolutely delicious. You could definitely tell that the pizza was homemade because the dough and pizza sauce had a unique flavor. After dinner I had the chance to do a second night dive off Buddy’s dock. The coral polyps were open and tarpon were everywhere hunting for dinner, which was such a spectacular site to see. I was in awe of the aquatic nightlife because it was vastly different from that of the creatures awake during the day.

I had an amazing day in Bonaire and I can’t wait for another adventure tomorrow… Goede nacht (goodnight)!
