On September 27, 2015, a group of students and an advisor from the Clearwater campus had the opportunity to visit University of South Florida’s Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. The students enjoyed learning about Chinese culture through regional dance and musical performances.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is celebrated by the Chinese on the 15th day of the eighth month on the lunar calendar. The program was open for everyone to come and experience the colorful cultural performances. Students also had the opportunity to interact with different clubs that presented at the festival, such as USF Chinese Students and Scholars Association, and co-sponsors including the Chinese Culture and Language Club and the USF Confucius Institute. Each student in attendance received a beautiful and tasty mooncake.
SPC’s students who attended had a great time:
“The Mooncakes look delicious!” – Tyler Page
“I really liked the festival and getting the chance to learn about the Chinese culture.” – Skyy Everhart
“The dancers were very cultural, I wonder how much time they spent practicing?” – Miranda Page
Be sure to join the celebration next year!
