The Day That Goes Right

IMG_0317Today was a busy day.

We started off by going to ride the London Eye, which offered a stunning view of the city. After that ride we went back to the National Theatre for a backstage tour that gave a lot of interesting information and made me really want to be a part of that theatre.

After the tour we had free time and I took a solo journey to Abbey Road to pay homage to my favorite band, The Beatles. What I did not realize was that the tube stop called Abbey Road is not The Beatles’ Abbey Road. I had to go the same amount of distance in a different direction to reach my true destination, but I was glad I did because it was really cool. When I had crossed the road, I returned to the hotel to get ready for the nightly play, which turned out to be the funniest play I have ever seen: “The Play That Goes Wrong.” After all that, the elevator in the hotel was not working well so I ran up 16 flights of stair and managed to live just long enough to get to bed.

First Impressions of London

19198_10206090741695114_8371745217816557263_nToday we arrived in London and it was immediately exciting. We boarded a bus to take us to our hotel and the driver pointed out notable sights along the way, which made it interesting. I began taking videos so that I have a video journal to post on YouTube at the end of the trip. It did not take long for our exploring to begin because after just a little bit at the hotel, we went off to Covent Garden.

My first purchase in England was an ice cream cone and then I watched street performers until it was time to move on. We went to dinner and had a fancy three course meal with the main dish being the famous fish and chips. Unfortunately I missed dessert because I had a play to attend. I should not say that it is unfortunate that I missed dessert because the play was incredible and the theatre itself was interesting.

I learned that an intermission is called an interval in England and they sell ice cream during that time. I bought some. We then took the tube back to the hotel and I found that my roommates were already asleep. I did not blame them.

One final thing I noticed was that there are very few trash cans in this city.

I look forward to the rest of the trip.
