I guess you cold say day 2 of the adventure started started on the airplane somewhere between St Pete and Newark because that would have been after midnight in London. Anyway, we arrived right on time and breezed through Customs.
We found our tour guide with no problem, a delightful and quite helpful man named Gavin. The other tour groups hadn’t arrived so we had a wait at the airport.
The ride to the hotel, Hutton’s Hotel, was filled with iconic scenery and chock full of English tidbits provided by Gavin.
The hotel rooms are small but serviceable, just like we thought they would be.
We had about until 3 pm to ourselves while waiting for the third group to arrive.
Gavin then took us on a walking tour of the area…I say walking as there was much of that…but we also were instructed in the us of the Underground or Tube.
First off, we took the Underground to Covent Garden, the sight where the first scene of My Fair Lady was filmed. We had about 2 hours of walk around self tour of the area which is quite Times Square like with restaurants, theaters, street buskers, and general tourist shops, even a Disney Store.
We then took the Tube to St. Paul’s Cathedral area and had a tour sponsored dinner at a pub.
We took the Tube back to the Hutton and generally called it a day……a very very very long day.
Tomorrow we are taking a bus tour of London in the morning followed by a walking tour of Dickensian London.
I will now soak my tired feet and go to bed.
