My opinion about Study Abroad by Arthur Wilmoth

GOPR2564Dear All,

I am currently on the Spain Study Abroad program. I can not even begin to explain how important Study Abroad is to my experience as a student at SPC. This experience as a student in another country has changed my outlook on many subjects, for example language learning. Meeting people here who know 4 or 5 languages is not uncommon. It is very inspiring to here about all of these accomplishment from many different people all trying to speak Spanish. Some of the students know English, but most know other languages and are learning Spanish. It is so amazing for me to be forced to speak in Spanish and actually succeeding. I am in love with Spain with Salamanca with Spanish. We have a Great group and an even better Teacher. Professora Levin is an amazing teacher,  mentor, and friend.

The International Club has a plan! by Arthur Wilmoth

arthur doing MLP dThis week I had the amazing opportunity to do some Spring Training of my own, but probably not the kind of spring training you are thinking about. I signed up to attend the workshop for “MLP” training. MLP stands for My Learning Plan. I have used MLP to help me prepare for what classes I will need to take in later semesters. I used the workshop to fine tune my MLP while making sure that I am on the correct path towards graduation.

The Tarpon Springs Campus is currently running a contest to see which club can get the most people to participate in the workshop. As president of the International Club, I will be spreading the word to our club! Our mission is to make sure all of our members complete their MLP! Please fill it out and attend. It only takes an hour to complete, and when you leave I know you will have a better understanding of which classes to take and why you should take them.

Nick M. Billiris AD Building Dedication Ceremony by Arthur Wilmoth

On March 26 I had the pleasure of attending the Nick M. Billiris Administration Building Dedication Ceremony. The ceremony was held out front of the administration building on the Tarpon Springs Campus where students, faculty, and guests  gathered to hear the many speakers, and take part in the Dedication Ceremony.

The ceremony saw an array of speakers such as Dr. Law (SPC President), Dr. Carney (Provost, Tarpon Springs Campus), Ms. Edina Kurtovic (SGA President). Mr. Billiris (Founding Provost Tarpon Springs Campus).

The Hellenic Society and the Student Government Association hosted a very appetizing luncheon following the ceremony. The luncheon featured an assortment of Greek food and some traditional folk dancing.

United States Hispanic Leadership Institute Experience by Arthur Wilmoth

Facebook-20140227-032621I recently had the amazing experience of traveling to Chicago to attend USHLI –United States Hispanic Leadership Institute- with a wonderful group of SPC students.

We had the opportunity of hearing from Dr. Antonia Novella and Samuel Betances to name a few. The speeches delivered throughout the entire conference where powerful, moving, and motivational.

I have a new outlook on Leadership and what I am going to continue doing to improve myself every year. Their where so many great quotes that I heard throughout the conference. My favorite and new personal model is “The Best Revenge is Success”.

The Latinos United Club with be holding the second banquet of Latinos United to share what we have learned with everyone on campus.

Please come out and join the Latinos United Club on April 10th on the Tarpon Springs campus.
