Hello there!
My name is Amy Currotto and I am a student at St. Petersburg College pursuing a degree in Vocal Performance with an emphasis on Opera! Welcome to my Czech Republic Model UN Blog! I will be traveling with the SPC Model United Nations Team this Friday to compete in the National Model United Nations Czech Republic Conference in Olomouc!
Throughout the week I will be traveling through the Czech Republic to places like Prague and Olomouc, in addition to Poland! My list of ‘must sees’ in Europe will include Opera houses, castles, and more! … So stay tuned as I will be posting everything here in this blog! There is nothing more that sets my soul on fire than traveling so I’m incredibly excited for the next week to come and cannot wait to share my experiences with you!
So…. How did I get into Model United Nations as a Music Major?
I heard about The Model United Nations team through a close friend I was giving voice lessons to at the time. He encouraged me try out for the team! Initially, I felt intimidated because I did not have any experience with International Relations. In addition, I was surrounded by a room filled with people who were in fact majoring in International Relations, Public Policy, and Political Science.

Nevertheless, I tried out for the team, and was chosen to compete at The National Model United Nations Conference in Washington DC in 2013.
The rest is history and here I am, two years later, about to graduate to head on to Law School, with this incredible opportunity to represent St. Petersburg College in Europe!
Why do I love Model UN?
The truth is, I love competition. St. Petersburg College ranks high in Model United Nations Teams across the country. Competing against students around the world is incredibly invigorating and also challenging. I love being thrown into a room of hundreds of like minded college students to debate, write international legislation, and solve global issues. Through this program I have been able to travel all over the country to places such as Gainesville, Washington DC, New York City, and now across the world to compete in these conferences! I have established incredible friendships from all over the world through this program including my SPC teammates, who are now among my closest friends.
I am so thankful for all the opportunities I have been given through the program, the professors who believe in me enough to send me on these trips, and for the opportunity to continuously be able to represent SPC! Stay tuned:)!
