Yesterday was great after we arrived at the Sandals resort the Sandals staff met us at the entrance with cool, wet towels to clean ourselves, which was nice after the long three hour bus ride from Montego Bay to Whitehouse Jamaica. The resort is so beautiful that words can’t describe. Dinner last night was incredible I still can’t believe that I am in Jamaica. Trey and I and a dental student from Jamaica roomed together last night the rooms are all facing the ocean with incredible views. Last night after we were all settled in after dinner we had a welcome meeting with the Great Shapes organization. I really enjoyed meeting and learning about all the volunteers that had all came together for the same cause. I met many new faces and realized that this was going to be a great week. So today after having another meeting and getting to know all the staff we were off to unpack all the supplies that we shipped and set up our clinics for the week. It just hit me that we are not on vacation we are here to change lives and I just got a feeling that I can’t describe.
After we were all unpacked and decided which supplies we would need for the week we were off to our clinic for the week to setup. My clinic was New Market clinic which was only about 45 minutes from the resort. Wow the clinic was up in a matter of hours and it was operational speaking highly of it. I was a little frightened as what was to come for the upcoming week. Definitely not our state of the art clinic back home in the states. Even though my clinic was barely operational I was still very motivated to make it work for the patients. Well we are heading back to the resort tomorrow is the big day the first day of patient care in an unfamiliar place.
