Tak! by Casey Kiernan

Hej allesammen,
Our day started with a lovely Danish breakfast! We went for a stroll, then we visited the zoologisk have. We saw many animals up close and personal. The zoo was not like many zoos any of us had visited before, the animals had very natural habitats, a lot of space to fit them and their lifestyles, and there were many opportunities to be very close to the animals, including underground viewing areas where a polarbear swam just a few feet above our heads, we were able to pet camels, we were not far at all from the meerkats, and in the jungle area the birds were flying right over our heads. We actually witnessed the meerkats being fed, we were shocked that they would feed carcusses to animals in the view of the visitors which included small children. I don’t think we would ever do that in the United States. Later we discussed behavior, and training with our host. She informed us that it is a requirement in their education to take multiple classes on behaviors of animals and training, they really get to know each breed and really try to teach others to prevent poor treatment of animals.  This topic came up when we realized how well behaved animals are here, and that most of the dogs we have seen stay with their owners, even when off of a leash. She also informed us that Denmark thinks very badly about Cesar Milan and his training tactics that his seminar in Denmark was cancelled and they will actually never allow him to do a seminar here. We found that very interesting.
Farvel, Ha’ det godt.
